Shri Ganesh Dies is our small workshop located in Malad West. We are in Shop No. B/216 on N.B. Road, specifically inside the Bombay Talkies Compound. That compound has a lot of history, though these days it’s mostly just small businesses and workshops like ours. It’s a bit of an old-school place. You can hear the sounds of machines and tools from almost every door. Our shop isn't very large, but we have all our equipment set up just the way we like it. The walls have seen a lot of work over the years. We spend our days handling the dies and making sure everything is measured right. It’s greasy work sometimes, and our hands are rarely clean by the end of the day. N.B. Road is a busy stretch, and getting into the compound can be a bit of a squeeze with all the trucks and deliveries. We’ve been here for a long time, so we know the other mechanics and shop owners around the compound. We usually have our lunch together or just sit outside for a bit of air. It’s not the most modern setup, but we know how to use every tool we own. Malad is a good area for this kind of work because there are always people looking for parts or repairs. We have a radio that plays in the background, mostly just to drown out the noise of the heavy machines next door. It's our daily grind.
