Magna Laboratories Pvt Ltd is found over in Santacruz West. We are in the Shreyas building, which is on the Second Hasnabad Lane. It’s a bit of a quiet lane compared to the main roads, but finding a place to park a scooter is still a daily struggle. Our lab and office are combined into a pretty small space. We have our equipment on one side and our desks on the other. It’s not a fancy clinical environment you see in movies. It’s just a practical workspace where we do our testing and keep our records. The walls are a bit yellowed and we have too many cables running along the floor. We’ve been working here for a long time, so we know all the quirks of the building. We don't have a front desk or a person to greet you at the door. Usually, whoever is closest to the entrance just looks up from their work. We spend a lot of time peering at results and writing things down in notebooks. We eat our lunch together and sometimes we complain about the humidity. It’s a very local kind of business. We don't have any big marketing plans or a corporate ladder. We just do the work that comes in and try to make sure we don't lose any of our pens. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in Mumbai.
