Our office is tucked away in the Rajhans Co-Op Housing Society in Mumbai, right in the middle of a busy residential area. Maersk Shipping Infotech isn't a fancy corporate tower or anything like that. We work from a regular building here in the 400075 zip code where the sounds of the neighborhood are always in the background. You might hear someone’s car honking or a neighbor calling out while we are busy handling shipping data and technical stuff on our computers. The space is a bit cramped with desks and wires, but it gets the job done. Most of us take the local train or ride bikes to get here every morning. During the monsoon, the rain hits the windows pretty hard, and we sometimes have to share umbrellas when going out for lunch at the nearby stalls. It is just a group of people sitting in a housing society office trying to keep things moving. We don't have a big reception desk or a sign that lights up the street. It’s mostly just files, coffee mugs that haven't been washed yet, and the hum of the air conditioner that struggles when it gets really hot outside. We know the security guards by name and they know when we’re staying late. It is a very normal Mumbai workplace where we focus on the screen and try to stay on top of the shipping schedules without much fuss or noise.
