Sona Rupa

Lower Parel has changed so much since Sona Rupa first started out. It used to be all mills and quiet lanes, but now it’s nothing but big glass buildings and malls. We are still tucked away here though, keeping things pretty much the way they’ve always been. We don’t have any of those shiny windows or air-conditioned lobbies you see down the street. It’s just a regular space where we handle our daily business. Most of the people who work here live quite a distance away, so the train station talk is a big part of our mornings. You get used to the noise of the city after a while, though sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard to focus. We spend most of the day dealing with people coming in and out, checking on things, and making sure the books are right. It’s a lot of small tasks that add up. We drink a lot of tea from the stall around the corner while we work. The space isn’t huge, but we’ve learned how to use every inch of it over the years. It feels like home to us, honestly. Even with all the new construction nearby, our little corner of Lower Parel stays the same. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. There’s always something to fix or someone to call, so the day goes by pretty fast.
