Sankam International

Lower Parel is a crowded part of Mumbai, and we are tucked away inside the Sun Industrial Estate. Our unit is 317 in the Sunmill Compound. If you know this area, you know how tight the lanes can be, especially when everyone is trying to load or unload at the same time. The building itself has seen better days, but it’s sturdy and keeps us going. We’ve got a small team here at Sankam International. Most of the day is spent on the phone or checking over lists. It’s a lot of coordination. The air conditioning struggles a bit in the afternoon heat, but we get used to it. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that’s usually when we take a breather. There is always a pile of boxes near the door. Sometimes we have to shift things around just to make a path to the back desk. We don’t have any polished showrooms or anything like that. It’s just an office and a work area where we handle the international side of things. People are always rushing past in the hallway. It’s a bit of a maze getting here if you aren’t used to the compound. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It’s a practical space for a practical kind of job. We’ve been in this spot for a good while and the neighbors are all the same people we’ve known for years. It is a noisy but good place to work.
