The cafe sits on 20th Main in the 5th Block of Juhu. It’s a part of town that never really seems to get quiet, even late at night. We arrive early to grind the coffee and wipe down the wooden tables that get sticky from the humidity. The windows usually need a lot of cleaning because of the sea air being so close by. We spend the afternoon watching the people walk past on their way to the beach or work. The staff here is mostly local, and we’ve gotten to know the people who come in for their morning cup every single day. It’s not a corporate setup; we just use what we have and try to keep the place looking okay. The chairs are a bit old, and sometimes the music we play is just whatever someone has on their phone. We spend a lot of time restocking the napkins and making sure the milk hasn’t run out. When it rains, everyone crowds inside and the floor gets covered in wet footprints, so we’re always mopping. We handle the orders as they come, sometimes getting a bit behind when a large group shows up unexpectedly. It’s just a regular spot for a drink and a seat in Juhu. We don’t think too much about it, we just keep the doors open and try to stay organized while the neighborhood moves around us.
