Our office is over in the Pancharatna building, specifically at room 108. If you’ve ever been to the Opera House area, you know it’s the heart of the gem trade here. Likin Gems Pvt. Ltd. has been operating from this building for quite a while. It’s a busy place, always people moving in the hallways with small parcels. We spend most of our day at our desks, looking at stones and talking to other traders. The building itself is pretty old and has a lot of history. There’s a certain way things work here, and we’ve just become a part of that rhythm. It’s not a retail shop where people just wander in off the street. It’s more of a place for business. We deal with various types of gems, mostly in the wholesale side of things. The lighting in the office is kept very specific so we can see what we are doing. Sometimes the elevators take forever, and the noise from the street never really stops. We just focus on the stones in front of us. It’s a lot of fine detail work that requires a lot of patience. We have our regulars who we’ve known for years. It’s a small world in this industry, and everyone kind of knows everyone else. We just keep our heads down and do our jobs every single day. It might not be the most exciting place to work, but it suits us just fine.
