L P Auto Industries is sitting right at Shop No 1 A, where Lamington Road meets V P Road. If you know this area, you know how crowded and loud it gets with all the spare parts shops and people everywhere. We’ve been in this little corner for years. The shop is small and we have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. Most of the time, I’m the one climbing the ladder to find a specific part for a customer. We have bits and pieces for all sorts of vehicles, old and new. It’s greasy work sometimes, and our hands are usually stained with oil by the end of the day. We don't have a fancy display window to attract people. Most customers just walk in and tell us what they’re looking for. Sometimes they bring the old, broken part with them so we can match it up exactly. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but the demand for auto parts never really stops. We get a lot of mechanics coming in who are in a big hurry. We try to find what they need quickly so they can get back to their garages. It’s a lot of talking and searching through boxes every day. We don't have a computer for inventory; we just know where everything is kept. It’s a bit chaotic, but it works for us.
