Being on the ground floor of the Gandhi Nagar Building has its pros and cons. We are right at C-1. L. B. S. Road is always loud, so there is a constant hum of traffic outside our door. We are right opposite the Sulaiman Compound. It’s a busy spot in the New Mill Road area. Surface Infrastructure has been in this space for a good bit of time. The office is easy to find because you don’t have to climb any stairs. We have a lot of heavy files because of the infrastructure projects we handle. Sometimes dust comes in from the road, but that’s just how it is here. We have a small pantry where we make tea. The team is small, just a handful of us who know each other well. We don't have a receptionist in a suit. Usually, whoever is closest to the door just says hello. Our desks are covered in blueprints and site photos. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we all have meetings at once. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. New shops come and go. We stay here because it’s central for our site visits. We just get on with the day’s work without making a big fuss about it. It’s a real office for real work. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just do it. It is just a plain office on a busy road.
