If you go to the Parmar Industrial Estate at Bail Bazar you will find our units at 10 and 11. Kurla West is a very busy and noisy part of Mumbai but it is where we have always been. We make plastic items using machines that take up most of the floor space. It’s not a quiet place to work because the fans and the motors are always running. We don't have a fancy office upstairs. Our desks are right there near the production line so we can see what is happening. The air smells a bit like warm plastic most of the time. We aren't a corporate giant with a board of directors. It’s just us trying to keep the machines running and the orders moving out the door. Sometimes the raw material is late because of the traffic in Bail Bazar but we find ways to catch up. We wear heavy shoes and simple clothes because the floor can get slippery or dirty. It’s a lot of standing and moving around all day long. We’ve known the guys in the neighboring units for a long time and we help each other out if someone needs a tool or a hand with a heavy load. It’s a tough environment but it is our daily life and we are used to it by now.
