Karan Plywood

You can find Karan Plywood at 142 Victoria Road in Byculla East. It’s a loud part of town but we like it here. There is usually a bit of sawdust on the floor no matter how many times we try to sweep it out. We spend most of our days moving things around and checking what’s left in the stacks. The air smells like wood and sweat most afternoons. People come in from the street asking for things, and we do what we can to help them find what they need. It’s been our spot for a long time now. We have a small office area near the front where we keep the records. It gets hot in the summer because the fan just moves the warm air around, but we are used to it. My cousin used to work the counter, now it’s just me and a couple of guys in the back. Byculla East is always changing, but our shop stays mostly the same. We have some regulars who come by just to chat for a minute before they head back to their jobs. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just rows of boards and us trying to keep everything organized. Sometimes the truck deliveries show up late and we have to wait around. We just take things as they come and try not to get too stressed about the small stuff.
