Our garage is at number 3 in Borivali East. It’s not a large place, just enough room for a couple of cars and all our tools. The ground is almost always dark from oil spills, and there is a heavy smell of grease and exhaust in the air. We spend most of the day in blue overalls that never really get clean no matter how much they are washed. We’ve been working on cars at this same spot for years. The neighbors are used to the sound of wrenches clanking and engines revving up. We have a small wooden desk in the corner where we keep the ledger and some old spare parts that we might need someday. There’s a radio on a shelf that’s usually tuned to a local station, playing music over the noise of the traffic outside. Borivali East is a busy area, so there’s always someone stopping by with a flat tire or a engine problem. We don’t have a fancy waiting room with a coffee machine. People usually just stand around or sit on a plastic chair near the entrance while we work. It’s a simple setup. We like it that way because we can find everything we need without looking too hard. When it rains, we have to pull the cars further in so we don't get soaked. It’s a lot of manual labor, but it keeps us busy from morning until we pull the shutter down at night. Most days we are just glad to get the jobs done.
