Christmas Gift Box

Christmas Gift Box is situated at No. 6 Sardar Chawl on S.V.P. Road, just off Shantilal Modi Road in Kandivili West. The name might make it sound like we only work in December, but we are here throughout the year in this small space. Being in a chawl means it is very close-knit with a lot of neighbors around. There is always someone walking past the door or kids playing nearby. Inside, we have boxes stacked up almost to the ceiling. It is a bit of a maze trying to get from the door to the back of the room. We spend our days folding cardboard, taping things up, and making sure everything is tucked in neatly. The fans are always on because it gets quite stuffy with all the paper and packaging around. We do not have much in the way of furniture, just a few low stools and some long tables for the work. It is a lot of repetitive motion, but it is what we do. The traffic on S.V.P. Road is quite something, so there is a constant drone of buses and cars outside. People stop by to pick things up or just to ask directions because we are right there on the corner. We do not have a big staff, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. It is a busy little spot in a crowded part of town. We just keep packing and sorting until the day is done.
