Kamlesh Gift House

Our shop is right in the heart of the Matunga Labour Camp, in Chawl Number 34-A. We are in House Number 449, which is a small but very busy space. Life in a chawl is never quiet, as there are always people walking past the door and neighbors talking in the hallways. We have filled every inch of the shop with gifts, toys, and small household items. It is so crowded that you have to be careful when you walk in so you do not knock anything off the shelves. We have lived and worked in Matunga for a long time, so we know almost everyone who walks through the door. People come to us when they need a quick gift for a party or a small trinket for their kids. We do not have any fancy displays or expensive lighting. We just have a few old fans to keep the air moving and some basic shelves we built ourselves. The smell of cooking from the nearby homes is always in the air, and there is a lot of noise from the street, but we find it comforting. We stay open until late in the evening because that is when most people are coming home and have time to stop by. It is a tiny corner of Mumbai, and while it might look a bit chaotic to an outsider, it is our home and our livelihood. We just try to keep the shelves stocked and stay friendly with everyone.
