Our workshop is situated in the old Bombay-Talkies Compound in Malad West, at number 94. It’s an interesting place to be because of the history of the compound, though these days it’s mostly just small businesses and industrial units. Jyoti Plastic Works Pvt. Ltd. has been here for a long time, and we’ve become a part of the local scenery. The compound itself is a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it, with narrow paths and lots of different sheds and buildings tucked away. Inside our unit, it’s usually quite warm because of the machinery we use for the plastic work. There is a constant hum of equipment, and there are always crates of parts waiting to be moved out. We aren't exactly a quiet office. It’s a place where we are getting our hands dirty and making things. The office part is just a small corner with a couple of desks where we handle the billing and the phone calls. We’ve got a small team, and most of the guys have been with us for a decade or more. We know the tea seller outside by name, and we usually take our breaks in the shade of the compound walls. It’s a very grounded way to work. Malad West is always busy and loud, but once you get inside the compound, it’s like its own little world. We like the stability of it.
