Job Less

You can find us at Dr Aguiar Chawl, Room No 1, right on Church Road in Mankhurd. It’s a humble spot in Mumbai, but it’s where we do all our work. We named the place Job Less, which might sound funny to some, but it’s about helping people who are in that exact situation. Living and working in a chawl means you know your neighbors well. There is always someone walking by or a bit of noise from the street outside. Our room is small, and we have to keep things very organized to make sure we don't lose any papers. We have a small table and a couple of stools for when people come to talk. It’s a very local operation. We mostly focus on the people right here in the neighborhood who need a lead on some work. Sometimes we help with forms or just point someone in the right direction. The rain can be a bit of a problem during monsoon season, but we have a good roof. It’s not a fancy recruitment agency with computers everywhere. It’s just us trying to be useful to the community in Mankhurd. Most of the time, it’s just one or two of us here handling the requests. We don't have fixed hours sometimes because things just happen when they happen. It’s a real, boots-on-the-ground kind of place that we run ourselves.
