You can find J.M.Fabrics right in the middle of the bustle at 447, Gopalak Galli, which is inside the M.J. Market. It’s a very busy area, and the galli is usually full of people moving goods back and forth. Our shop is packed tight with fabric from floor to ceiling. There isn’t much room to walk around, so we’ve become experts at navigating the narrow aisles we’ve left for ourselves. Every morning, we pull back the shutters and start rearranging the bolts of cloth so people can see what we have. It’s dusty work, and the market can get quite hot, but there’s an energy to it that keeps us going. We don't have an office with a door; our "office" is just a small desk tucked into a corner behind some stacks of silk or cotton. We handle the sales and the orders right there. We know a lot of the other traders nearby, and we often share a cup of chai while talking about the day’s business. It’s not a fancy showroom with mannequins or bright lights. It’s just a place where fabric is bought and sold. We spend our time measuring out meters and wrapping up bundles for customers. It’s honest, fast-paced work in a crowded corner of the market, and we’ve been doing it this way for years.
