In a city like Mumbai, space is always at a premium, and our office at Surya Nivas is no different. We are located at Plot Number 8 in Sion West. It is an old building, number 11, and it has that classic Mumbai feel to it. The area is always packed with people, and the sound of the local trains is not too far off. We work on water infrastructure from here, which is kind of funny when you think about how many water issues a city like this can have. The office itself is pretty cramped with all the files and computers we have squeezed in. It is not a shiny corporate tower; it is more of a lived-in space where real work happens every day. Most of us commute from different parts of the city, so we are always talking about the traffic or the weather. When it rains during the monsoon, the whole of Sion feels like it is underwater, but we keep the office running anyway. We do not have fancy perks or a cafeteria. Usually, we just grab something from the local stalls nearby for lunch. It is a busy, noisy, and somewhat messy place, but it works for us. We just sit at our desks, handle the logistics, and try to make sure the water projects we are managing stay on schedule despite the chaos of the city outside our windows.
