Jayantilal Bros. has been at 29 Abdul Rehman Street in Pydhonie for as long as I can remember. This street is famous for being crowded. There are people carrying loads, handcarts moving by, and shops packed tight against each other. Our shop is no different. It’s a long, narrow space with shelves that go all the way up to the high ceiling. We use long sticks with hooks to get things down from the top. We sell various hardware and tools. It’s a family-run place, so you’ll usually see one of us sitting behind the small wooden counter near the front. We don't have a catalog or a price list on the wall. We just know the prices. Dealing with customers is what we do all day. Sometimes it gets very hot in here because there isn't much ventilation, but we are used to it. We keep a ledger to write down the sales. The floor is old stone and it’s worn smooth from all the feet walking over it. We don't spend money on advertising or making the place look modern. It’s just a traditional shop in a traditional market. People come to us because we’ve been here forever and we have the stock. It’s a simple business and we like it that way. We don't have a computer system, just our memories and the stock on the shelves.
