Jay Kumar & Company is situated at 212 C in the Kalbadevi area, inside the Krishna Market. We are quite close to the bus stop, which is handy for anyone coming by the shop. Kalbadevi is one of those places that never seems to sleep or stay quiet for long. There are people everywhere and the narrow lanes are always full of activity and noise. Our shop in Krishna Market is where we do all our business. It is a very traditional kind of setup. We have our old desks and our ledgers, and there is usually a stack of papers that needs looking at. We have been here for a while and we know most of the neighbors working in the market. It is the kind of place where you stop to talk to someone for five minutes while you are on your way to get some water or a snack. We do not use much fancy technology here; we prefer the old-fashioned way of doing things when we can. The market gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we have the fans going all the time to keep cool. It is a bit cramped with all the goods we have to store, but we always manage to find what we need eventually. Sometimes customers come in and we sit and talk about what they are looking for over some hot chai. It is a very local way of working in this part of town.
