Janta Lime Depot & Hardware Store

You can find us in Malad East over at Paras Society 2, right in the Jain Derasar Gali. It’s a narrow spot, and we share the lane with people going to the temple and neighbors going about their day. The store is usually a bit white from all the lime powder we keep in the bags. We sell hardware too, so there are hammers, nails, and buckets of paint scattered around the shelves. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. If you need a specific type of bolt or some cement, we usually have to move a few things to get to it. The morning starts with us sweeping the front and getting the heavy sacks ready for whoever might come by. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we keep a fan going near the counter. We talk to a lot of local painters and builders who have been buying from us for years. They usually come in for a quick chat and to pick up what they need for their day’s work. The Gali is always full of life, and we are just a part of that daily rhythm. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just open the shutters and start the day. It's honest work, getting our hands dirty and making sure people get their supplies for their homes. We keep things simple and just focus on the shop.
