Jain Empire

Our setup for Jain Empire is out here in Kamrej, right along NH 8. Being in Udhyog Nagar means there are always trucks passing by and the sound of machines from the other sheds. It’s a busy place. Chandewadi is where we spend most of our daylight hours. The dust from the highway is something we just got used to after the first few months. We keep the doors open when it isn’t too hot so a bit of a breeze comes through. Usually, the morning starts with checking what arrived on the late-night deliveries. It’s mostly just a few of us here making sure things are moving. We aren’t really into the whole corporate lifestyle with suits and long meetings. Most days we are wearing boots and just trying to stay on top of the schedule. There is a small canteen down the road where we grab lunch. It isn’t anything fancy, just dal and rice, but it keeps us going. The parking lot is always full of motorcycles and the occasional tempo. We’ve been in this spot for a bit now, so the neighbors all know us. It can get pretty noisy when the traffic on the National Highway picks up in the evening, but that’s just how it is in an industrial area. We don't mind it much anymore. It's just part of the job and we keep at it until the sun goes down.
