J. R. Concrete

Our little office for J. R. Concrete is located over at 5, Matruchaya C.H.S. in Roshan Nagar. Borivli (West) is a very crowded place, and we are right in the middle of all that noise. When people think about concrete, they usually think about big mixing trucks and dusty construction sites, but here in the office, it is mostly just us handling the paperwork and taking phone calls. The building is an older one, which is typical for this part of Roshan Nagar. We have some samples sitting around the room, mostly just concrete blocks and slabs that we show people when they drop by to discuss a project. It is definitely not a showroom. It is just where we coordinate where the trucks need to go. My desk is right near the window so I can see the traffic crawling along the street outside. J. R. Concrete is a small operation. We spend a lot of our time out at the actual sites where the pouring happens. The phone rings quite a bit with guys asking about delivery times or weather delays. Concrete is tricky because you have to time everything perfectly with the Mumbai traffic. Sometimes the rain messes up our whole schedule for the week. Then we sit here in Matruchaya C.H.S. and try to move all the orders around. We have been in this neighborhood for a while, so we know most of the local builders nearby.
