If you’ve ever been to Lamington Road, you know how loud and busy it is. We are right in the middle of it at Shop No. 18, 11/13 Patel Mansion. It’s across from the Hanuman Temple, which is a good landmark because the lanes here can get very confusing. Topiwala Lane is always packed with people looking for electronic parts. We’ve been at J K Technology for years, dealing with all sorts of hardware. The shop is small and the walls are covered in boxes. It gets pretty dusty with all the traffic outside. We don’t have much room, so we have to be organized, or we’d lose everything. People come in looking for specific components that they can't find elsewhere. Sometimes we have them, sometimes we have to order them from someone else. It’s a tight community of sellers here. We drink a lot of chai to keep going. The noise from the street never really stops until late at night. Grant Road station is nearby, so there’s a constant stream of commuters. We don't put on any acts here. We just tell you what we have and how much it costs. Working in Patel Mansion has its ups and downs, like the old elevators and the narrow stairs, but it’s home for the business. We just keep our heads down and work on the tech stuff as long as the lights are on.
