Out here at Village & Post Deokali Kalan, things move a bit differently than in the big cities. Ivrcl Infrastructurs&Projects Ltd. is tucked away in the Santkabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It is a rural spot, so you will not find any glass skyscrapers around this particular office. We set up here because this is where the actual project work is happening on the ground. The roads can be a bit rough during the rains, but we manage to keep the site office running regardless of the weather. Most of our day is spent dealing with local logistics and making sure the construction materials arrive on time. It is a lot of coordination between the village locals and the workers. We do not have a big front desk or a lobby. Just some sturdy chairs and a lot of site drawings pinned up. It is dusty work, especially when the wind picks up across the open fields. We have been part of this community for the duration of the project, and we know most of the people passing by the gate. Sometimes the power goes out, so we just work by the windows until it comes back. It is not glamorous, but the infrastructure needs doing and someone has to be here to watch over the progress. We deal with the daily tasks of building and making sure the foundations are right. Life in UP has its own pace, and we have adapted to it over the months.
