Working in Mumbai always means dealing with tight spaces, and our place at Kailash Chawl is no different. We are situated right behind the Shankar Temple, so we hear the bells ringing every morning and evening. It’s actually quite a nice sound to work to. The office is at number 13. It’s a typical Mumbai setup where every inch of space is used for something. We have our desks crammed in, and there is always a stack of papers somewhere that needs sorting. The humidity can be a bit much in the monsoon, so we have a couple of old air conditioners that groan a bit but keep us cool enough. People walk past the door all day long, and you can hear the sounds of the neighborhood quite clearly. We are part of the Infomedia 18 group, but here on the ground, it’s just us doing the daily grind. We don't have a canteen, so we all bring dabbas or go out to the local stalls for a quick bite. It’s a very grounded atmosphere. No one wears ties or sits in big glass offices. We just sit together, talk about the work, and get it finished. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s just how life is in a chawl. We've been in this spot for years and everyone around here knows our faces. We just keep our heads down and do what needs doing.
