Working at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai, especially here at INS Vajrabahu, is something you just get used to after a while. Most of us spend our time at the Main Signal Office where things are always moving, whether it is day or night. The humidity coming off the water in Mumbai can be a real struggle some days, but we keep the fans going and get through the paperwork and signals. It is not exactly what you see in the movies, it is a lot more about sitting at desks and making sure the communication lines stay open. This part of the dockyard near P Pichandi Por is busy and loud. We deal with a lot of technical stuff that comes through the office. Sometimes the machines act up or the heat makes everyone a bit tired, but that is just part of being stationed here in the city. People come and go from the main gate all day long. It is a big place with lots of history, but mostly we are just focused on the tasks right in front of us. We have been at this address for a long time, and the building has that old, solid feel to it. It gets a bit dusty with all the traffic outside, but we manage. We usually take our breaks when we can and talk about whatever is going on in the city. It is a steady life here.
