Our place is located out in Aarey Colony, which is a bit different from the rest of Mumbai because of all the trees and space. We are over in the Mayur Nagar area of Goregaon East. Some people know us as the Palms Hotel, but the name on the gate says Imperial Palace Hotel. Sabir Ahmad manages things around here. It’s a bit of a trek to get out to this part of the city, but once you arrive, the air feels a bit clearer. We have guests coming in and out at all hours, some staying for work and others just passing through. The building has been here for a while, and we do our best to keep everything running smoothly. Sometimes the plumbing acts up or a light bulb goes out, and we just fix it as we go. It’s not a five-star luxury resort with gold taps, but it’s a place to sleep and get some rest. We see a lot of different faces every day. Dealing with the hotel business in the middle of the colony means we have to be practical about things like supplies and transport. It’s a big building to look after, and there’s always something that needs cleaning or moving. We don't have a big corporate team; it's just the staff here making sure the rooms are ready when someone shows up at the desk looking for a stay. It’s hard work, but we manage.
