IC Point

IC Point is right in the thick of it on Lamington Road. We are on the 3rd floor of the Yamuna Building on Tara Temple Lane. If you’ve ever been to this part of Mumbai, you know it’s crowded, loud, and full of energy. Our shop is small, and every inch of wall space is covered in drawers full of integrated circuits and tiny electronic bits. It’s a bit of a climb up to the third floor, but customers still make the trip every day. We spend most of our time squinting at part numbers and digging through boxes to find that one specific chip someone needs. The fan overhead hums all day, but it barely makes a dent in the Mumbai heat. We get all sorts of people coming in, from students working on projects to repairmen looking for spare parts. It’s a constant stream of faces. We don’t have much room for a break area, so we usually just eat our tiffins at the counter between customers. There’s always someone shouting down in the lane or a bike horn honking nearby. It’s not the quietest place to work, but it’s where the action is. We’ve been in this building for years, and we’ve seen shops come and go, but we just keep counting out chips and bagging them up. It’s a messy, busy, and honest way to make a living in the city.
