Our office is in Flat No. 1001, A-Wing of the Lakeside building. It is right there in Raheja Vihar on Chandiwali Road in Powai. If you have ever been to Mumbai, you know how the traffic can get around here, especially in the evenings. Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. has been operating out of this flat for a while now. It’s a bit of a high-rise life, being on the tenth floor, but we spend most of our time out on sites anyway. Inside the office, it is mostly just stacks of paper, some old computers, and a lot of tea being made throughout the day. We handle all the paperwork and the project planning from this spot. It isn't some corporate showroom; it is just where we actually do the heavy lifting behind the scenes. Sometimes the lift in the building is slow, so we have to plan our meetings accordingly or just take the stairs if we are feeling brave. We don't really do the whole fancy corporate talk. We just focus on the bricks and the concrete and making sure the labor shows up when they are supposed to. Powai is a busy place, and being in Raheja Vihar keeps us close to everything we need. It’s a decent spot to work from, even if it gets a bit cramped when the whole team comes in for a meeting. Most days we are just trying to keep the schedule on track and dealing with the usual Mumbai rain.
