Hejc Architects Combine

We’re up on the ninth floor of Hill Heights. The address is 147 Alibhai Premji Marg. That’s over in Grant Road East. If you know Mumbai 400007, you know it’s a packed area. Grant Road is always buzzing with people and traffic. Our office, Hejc Architects Combine, is tucked away in this building. Being at number 902 gives us a bit of a view, though it’s mostly just other buildings and the city skyline. It’s a practical location. The building is a bit older, like many in this part of town. The stairs can be a bit of a climb if you aren't waiting for the lift. We’ve spent a lot of time in this office. It’s got a lot of character. We haven’t bothered with a fancy renovation because the current setup works just fine for us. It’s a place where we sit and think and draw. We don’t have a big reception desk or people in suits walking around. It’s a more relaxed atmosphere than what you might find in a newer business district. The walk from the Grant Road station is short, which is a plus for everyone. You pass by all sorts of shops and stalls on the way. It feels very connected to the real Mumbai. We like the grit and the history of this neighborhood. It’s not perfect, but it’s where we feel at home. We just keep our heads down and get the work done.
