Hdfc Bank, Mumbai

Our little office in Swapna Ghar Co-Op Soc on Chakala Road is right in the middle of the Andheri East rush. If you know Mumbai, you know how hectic this plot 52 area can get during the week. We work out of unit A-203, which feels more like a part of the neighborhood than a stiff corporate office. Hdfc Bank, Mumbai is what people call us, but we are really just a group of people trying to keep things running smoothly. The security guard at the gate knows us all by name now. The space inside is okay, though it gets a bit cramped when we have a lot of files to move around. We have some old wooden desks and chairs that have seen better days, but they are comfortable enough for a long shift. Most of our time is spent staring at screens or talking to people who live in the society and stop by with questions. It’s nice being in a residential complex because it’s a bit quieter than being right on the main road, though you can still hear the distant honking of cars. We usually take turns going out to get tea from the vendor at the corner. Sometimes the printer jams or the internet goes slow, and we just have to deal with it and move on. It’s a simple, practical way to work, and we like the routine of it.
