G.Vithaldas & Co.

Our shop is right in the middle of Nagdevi Cross Lane. If you’ve ever been to Masjid Bunder, you know how busy it gets. We are up on the first floor at number 39. It’s an old building, the kind where the stairs are narrow and you hear the noise from the street all day long. G.Vithaldas & Co. has been part of this market for a while now. We aren't trying to be anything fancy. There are stacks of files and items everywhere, and the phone rings more than it should. The guys downstairs are always unloading something, so it gets a bit loud. We mostly just deal with the regulars who have been coming to this lane for decades. You get used to the tea wallah coming by every few hours and the heat in the summer months. Being on the first floor gives us a little bit of a view of the street, watching the carts go by. It’s a lot of work keeping track of everything in such a tight space. We don’t have any slick brochures or a big reception desk. It’s just us, some old desks, and the business we do. You find your way through the crowd, come up the stairs, and we’re there. It’s a bit messy and the lighting isn't great, but that’s just how things are in Masjid Bunder. We keep at it because this is where the action is.
