Gujarat Copper Alloys Ltd. is located at 2901 Shreepati Arcade. That’s on A.K. Marg in the Grant Road West area. It’s a well-known building, and being up on the 29th floor gives us a bit of a view, though we’re usually too busy to look out the window much. We work with copper alloys and various metal products. The office is where the administrative side of things happens. We spend a lot of time on the computer and the phone, coordinating with the plants and the buyers. It’s a professional enough space, but it definitely feels like a working office rather than a corporate suite. There are stacks of metal samples on some of the tables and plenty of ledgers. Grant Road is a very active part of Mumbai, so there’s always a lot of movement outside. We don't spend our time writing fancy mission statements. We just focus on making sure the copper we deal with is the right grade and gets delivered on time. It’s a lot of logistical work and checking numbers. We’ve been in this business for a long time, so we’ve seen how things change. We just keep doing our thing, day in and day out. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just making sure our corner of the industry runs smoothly. It’s honest work and it keeps us occupied. Sometimes the traffic on A.K. Marg makes the commute a bit of a nightmare in the evenings.
