Grass Roots

Our spot is right in Borivali West, just across from Don Bosco School. If you know the area, you probably know Ganesh Daya Bhuvan-1. It’s a familiar building for most folks who live around here. We’ve been set up in number 7 for a good bit of time now. Being near a school means it’s always lively outside, especially when classes let out in the afternoon. We mostly spend our days dealing with plants and landscape stuff, which is what Grass Roots is all about. It’s dusty work most of the time. We move a lot of soil and heavy pots around. Some days are spent just planning out where things should go so they don't die in the sun. We aren't a big corporate outfit, just a handful of us who know which plants actually work in this Mumbai humidity. People walk in sometimes just to ask quick questions about their own balcony gardens. We try to help out when we can. The office isn't anything special to look at, just some desks and a lot of mud on the floor occasionally. It’s practical. We handle the paperwork, talk to the crews, and make sure the trucks are loaded right for the next job. Dealing with the traffic around Borivali is probably the hardest part of the day usually. We just keep at it, one project at a time, making sure the green stuff stays green. It’s what we do.
