If you look for us in Mumbai, you’ll find us over at Gulmohar Society, specifically in the NTPC Compound in Powai. Being on the eighth floor means we get a decent view of the area, though mostly we’re just looking at the computer screens. Powai is always moving, but inside the society, it’s a bit calmer. Grasim Industries Ltd has been operating out of room 801 for some time. It’s a typical Mumbai apartment style office, so it has that lived-in feel which is quite different from those big tech parks nearby. We share the space with a lot of files and some old furniture that’s been here since I started. The walk from the main gate of the compound to 20-A can be a bit long if you’re carrying heavy bags. We usually have tea together in the afternoon when things slow down for a minute. It’s not a place for flashy presentations or anything like that. We just handle the administrative side of things and talk to the people who need help with their paperwork. The lift in the building is a bit slow sometimes, which gives us a chance to chat with the neighbors. It’s a regular office with regular people trying to keep everything organized. We like it this way because it’s familiar and we know where everything is kept, even if it looks a bit crowded to an outsider.
