We operate out of an office in Sagar Tarang, right on Cadel Road in Mahim. We’re up on the third floor in flat B/7. It’s not your typical construction office with trucks everywhere, since we handle the planning and building side from here. Mumbai is a crowded place, and being in Mahim puts us right in the thick of it. We’ve been working on housing projects for a while now. Most of our day is spent looking at blueprints or talking to contractors on the phone. It’s a lot of coordination. We don’t have a flashy showroom or anything like that. People who want to talk about building usually just come up to the flat. The elevator in the building can be a bit slow sometimes, so we often end up taking the stairs. We try to be honest about how long things take, even when the news isn't what people want to hear. Building in this city is never simple, with all the rules and the lack of space. We just try to navigate it as best as we can. Our team is small, mostly just a few of us who have lived in Mumbai our whole lives. We know the neighborhoods and how the local authorities work. It’s a lot of hard work and sometimes it gets frustrating, but seeing a building actually go up makes it feel worth it. We just keep plugging away at it, one floor at a time.
