Skylight Industries

Working in an industrial center like Oshiwara means you’re always surrounded by noise. Our unit is A/103, and it’s right near Dhiraj Residency. Goregaon West is a busy part of Mumbai, especially with the New Link Road nearby. Skylight Industries is where we spend most of our waking hours. It’s a space filled with machines and the smell of metal and oil. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but it’s where the work happens. We make various industrial parts, and there’s always a machine humming or someone hammering something in the background. The walk from the main road can be a bit long when it’s raining, but we are used to it. The center is packed with other small workshops, so there’s always people moving around and trucks loading things. We have a small corner for our files and a place to sit for lunch, but mostly it’s standing-up work. The ventilation could be better, especially during the monsoon when it gets really sticky inside. We’ve been at this location for a good while, and we’ve seen the buildings around us go up one by one. It’s a gritty, practical place to work, but it suits us just fine. We just focus on getting the orders finished and out the door to the clients. Sometimes the landlord stops by to chat, but mostly we are left to our own devices.
