Chand Dye Works

You can find Chand Dye Works over in Building No. 10 at Azad Nagar. We are right on the Link Road, just across from Shastri Nagar in Goregaon West. This place has been here for a long time. The shop is full of big vats and different colors of dye. Usually, you will see steam coming out and rows of clothes hanging up to dry. It is a messy job, and our hands are often stained with whatever color we were working on that day. We take in all sorts of fabrics from people in the neighborhood. Some bring old curtains that need a new look, and others bring clothes that faded. We spend most of our time mixing colors and checking the water temperature. It is not a clean or quiet environment. There is always the sound of water running or the burners going. The floor is usually wet, so we wear rubber boots. We do not have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most people just know us because they walk past on the Link Road every day. Goregaon is a busy place, and we are right in the middle of it. Sometimes the colors don't come out exactly how someone expected, but that's just the nature of manual dyeing. We work hard from morning until the sun goes down. The smell of the dyes is something we don't even notice anymore, though visitors always mention it. We have a lot of plastic buckets and old stirring sticks.
