Gold Leather Works

Gold Leather Works is located on the ground floor at 35/2 in Kamla Nagar. You can find us right on Jasmine Mill Road in Mahim East, which is a place that never really stays quiet. The smell of leather is the first thing you notice when you step inside. It’s a strong scent that sticks to your clothes, but we’ve grown used to it over the years. We spend most of our day sitting on low stools, cutting and stitching pieces together. The lighting isn't the greatest, so we have a few extra lamps near the sewing machines. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend an hour fixing a jammed needle. It’s part of the job, I guess. We get a lot of foot traffic because of where we are located. People come in with old bags that need a new strap or shoes that have seen better days. We take a look, tell them if it’s fixable, and then get to it. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. If someone wants to find us, they just look for the sign on Jasmine Mill Road. The rain sometimes leaks in a bit near the front door during the heavy storms, so we keep the leather rolls high up on the shelves. It’s a steady way to earn a living, and we’ve been here long enough that most of the other shopkeepers are our friends.
