Our place is on Dr. Annie Besant Road over in Worli. If you know Mumbai, you know this is a pretty well-known stretch of road. Glaxo India Ltd has been around this area for a long time. The building itself has seen a lot of changes in the city over the years. From our windows, we can see the traffic moving along toward the sea link, which is always busy no matter what time it is. Inside, it’s just us going through our daily routines. We have our desks set up and everyone has their own way of organizing things. It’s not about being fancy; it’s just about having a place to do the work. We spend a lot of time in meetings or just catching up on the phone. Sometimes the monsoon rain hits the windows so hard you can’t hear yourself think, but we just keep at it. Most of the people here at Glaxo India Ltd have a lot of stories about how the neighborhood used to look before the big towers went up. We like being in Worli because it feels like the middle of everything. We’ve got a small canteen where we eat and talk about the cricket scores or the news. It’s a steady kind of life, coming in every morning and leaving when the work is finished. We don’t need much else, just a good spot to work and some decent coffee to keep us going through the afternoon.
