Our place is over in the Gemster Commercial Complex in Kanchpada. We are in room 304 on Ram Chandra Lane. If you’ve ever been to this part of Mumbai, you know it’s full of small industries and workshops. We do medical engineering, which mostly involves fixing and keeping up with the machines used in hospitals and clinics. It’s a very hands-on job. We don't sit behind desks all day. Most of us are usually leaning over a piece of equipment with a screwdriver or a testing meter. The workshop is a bit cluttered with tools, spare parts, and half-finished repairs. It’s not the cleanest place because we are always working with different components and lubricants. We’ve been doing this for a long time, so we’ve seen all kinds of medical gear come through our doors. We don't have a fancy website or a sales team. People usually call us because they know we can get their machines working again. It’s a lot of hard work, and sometimes we have to stay late to get a critical piece of equipment back to a hospital. We just grab some food from one of the stalls downstairs and keep going. The complex is always noisy and there’s a lot of movement in the corridors, but we just focus on the task at hand. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of business and we like it that way.
