General Mechanical Industries

General Mechanical Industries has its home at 5, National Tankiwala Industrial Estate. It is right off Marol Maroshi Road in Andheri (East), which is always a very busy place to be. We have been in this same spot for quite a few years now. The workshop is usually a bit messy, with bits of metal and various tools lying around on the benches. It is not a place for people who like to keep their hands clean. We start pretty early when the sun is just coming up and the traffic on Marol Maroshi Road isn't too bad yet. By noon, the estate is full of noise and the smell of grease. We don't have a fancy reception area or a secretary to greet people. Usually, you just walk in and find whoever is not busy with a machine. Our walls are a bit stained from the oil, and the ceiling fans have seen better days. It is just a practical space where we handle mechanical jobs as they come through the door. Some of our neighbors in the estate have changed, but we just stay here and do our thing. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially when the big machines are running. We just open the doors wider to catch a bit of a breeze. It is a simple life here in Andheri. We focus on the work in front of us.
