Garware Club House

Being right next to Wankhede Stadium on D Road means we see a lot of action, especially on match days. Garware Club House is a staple here in Churchgate. It’s an old building, and you can tell by the walls and the way the air feels inside. We’ve got members who have been coming here for decades. They sit in the same chairs and talk about the same things. Mumbai is always moving fast, but inside here, things slow down a little bit. It’s a place to eat, maybe play a bit of sport, or just sit. We have a lot of rooms and different sections, and sometimes the plumbing acts up because of the age of the place, but we fix it when we can. The staff knows most people by their first names. It’s not like those new fancy hotels in South Bombay. It’s more of a home for the locals and those who work nearby. You can hear the trains from the station if it’s quiet enough. We spend a lot of time managing the bookings and making sure the kitchen is running okay. It’s a lot of work to keep a place this size going in Mumbai 400020. People come here to escape the humidity and the noise of the traffic outside. It’s just how things are at Garware.
