If you know Dalal Street, you know how it gets. We are right in the P J Tower, way up on the 8th floor in room 808 A. Being in the BSE building means you are always surrounded by history and a whole lot of noise. Even up on our floor, you can feel the energy of the place. It’s not like a regular office. There are people running around, phones ringing constantly, and everyone seems to be in a hurry. We’ve got a view of Fort and the old buildings of Mumbai from some of the windows. It’s cramped sometimes because of all the files and the people coming in to talk. We don’t have fancy carpets or anything. It’s just desks, chairs, and a lot of screens. The security downstairs is tight, so we spend a lot of time just getting into our own office. But once you’re here, it’s just about keeping up with the day at the Bse Brokers' Forum. We drink a lot of chai and talk about what’s happening in the markets. It’s a community of brokers who have been around for decades. Some of the guys remember when everything was done with hand signals. Now it’s all digital, but the feeling of the tower hasn’t changed much. It’s a bit chaotic and loud, but that’s just how things are at the heart of the city’s financial district.
