Our workshop is inside the Prestige Industrial Estate in Malad West. It’s unit number 428, up on one of the floors. If you’ve ever tried to navigate Bawadi Lane or Marve Road during peak hours, you know it takes a bit of patience and time. We deal with fiber optics, which means a lot of delicate cables and specialized tools that require a steady hand. It’s precise work, often done under bright lights with magnifying glasses on our desks. The estate itself is always humming with different businesses, from printing presses to garment makers. We fit right in with the general noise and bustle of the place. Our space is usually a bit cluttered with reels of cable and testing equipment that we use daily. We spend a lot of our time splicing fibers or repairing connections that have gone bad for various clients. People bring in equipment that needs fixing, or we prepare kits for field technicians to use out in the city. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. Most of us are in old t-shirts because things can get a bit messy or dusty with all the moving of boxes. We’ve been in this spot for a good while, and we know the security guards and the other shop owners around the building. Sometimes we’re out on site, but 428 is where we do the heavy lifting and the complicated repairs. It’s a practical setup for a practical job. We just try to get the signal moving again.
