You can find Everest Projects over in the Ismail Tole Chawl, which is part of the Modi Compound in Mumbai. It’s a very different vibe from the newer parts of the city. The compound is old, and the walls have that weathered look you only get in these industrial areas. Our space is functional and a bit cramped, filled with the tools of the trade and stacks of paper. It’s the kind of place where you hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day long—people talking, scooters revving, and the general hum of Mumbai 400010. We don’t have air conditioning that works all the time, so the windows stay open to catch whatever breeze comes through the alleyways. We do our project work right in the middle of all this. It’s honest work, dealing with the reality of construction and logistics in a crowded space. There’s no lobby with a receptionist here. You just walk in and find us at our desks. We know the local shopkeepers and the tea guy well. The work can be messy and the days are long, but we’ve been here for a bit and know how to get things done despite the chaos. It’s a practical office for practical people who don't mind a bit of grit. We focus on the tasks at hand and try to keep everything moving smoothly through the narrow streets of the compound each and every day.
