Over here in Bhatinda, we work out of House No 228 in Model Town Phase II. It's a nice enough area and easy to find once you get into the neighborhood. We go by the name Essar Constructions (India) Limited. It’s a family-style environment in the office, even though we’re dealing with big construction projects. Punjab has its own way of doing things, and we’ve adapted to that over the years. Our space is usually filled with the sound of the fan and people talking about cement loads or steel prices. We aren't into the whole corporate image thing. Most of the guys here wear practical clothes and don't mind getting their hands dirty. We spend a lot of time driving out to sites around Bhatinda to see how the work is progressing. Sometimes the winters here get really cold, and that slows things down, but we push through. We keep a lot of our records in old-fashioned files because that's what works for us. It’s not a high-tech setup, just a solid one. Dealing with local contractors takes a lot of patience and clear talk, so we try to keep things simple. We’ve stayed in Model Town because it’s a good spot for our staff and it’s central enough for our needs. We just do our bit to get things built without making a scene. It’s just us, working hard and hoping the rain stays away when we’re pouring.
