Elite Fitness

You can find Elite Fitness down in the basement of the Ocean Prince Building. We are right in Gamdevi, directly across the street from the Gamdevi Police Station. Being in a basement means it stays a bit cooler in the summer, though we still keep the big fans running all day. The entrance is just off the main path, and you have to walk down the stairs to get to us. It is a compact space, filled with various iron plates and machines that we’ve gathered over the years. You can hear the sound of weights clanking from the sidewalk if you listen closely. I spend a lot of my morning just wiping down the benches and checking the cables on the pulley machines. We don't have a lot of space for a fancy lobby, so people usually just change and get right to their workout. It is a no-nonsense kind of place. Most of our members are guys from the surrounding apartment buildings who want a quick session before they head to work. The police station across the way makes it easy to give directions to anyone who is coming for the first time. We've been in the Ocean Prince Building long enough that most of the shopkeepers upstairs know us. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when it's busy, but everyone is polite and waits their turn for the rack. We just keep the doors open and the music playing.
