Our shop is tucked into the Municipal Staff Quarters over on S.V. Road in Khar. If you know Mumbai, you know how crowded S.V. Road can get, especially during the rains or rush hour. We are at 3/11, and it’s a modest little space where we keep all our electrical and electronic bits and pieces. It’s not a big department store. It’s more of a local workshop and office where we handle repairs and sales for the people in the neighborhood. We’ve been here long enough that the regulars just pop in to say hello or ask a quick question about a gadget. The walls are lined with shelves full of boxes and components. It’s a bit cramped, but we manage. There is usually a radio playing in the background and someone working at the back bench with a soldering iron. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing person. We just rely on the fact that we’re right here on the main road where people can find us. Working in Khar means we see a bit of everything, from the fancy cars passing by to the local residents doing their daily shopping. It’s a lively place to be. We keep our hours regular and try to help out whoever walks through the door. It’s just a small, local business trying to make a living in a very busy city.
